Hogs bristle vs synthetic brushes.

Which is going to work best for you?

Hogs bristle brushes are made from the natural bristles of hogs and are the traditional choice for oil-based paints. They are less expensive than synthetic brushes, but can be less durable and change their shape over time. Cleaning these well is the key to increasing their life span and the changes to the brush over time can be utilized for lots of deferent types of strokes.

Synthetic brushes are made from nylon, polyester, or other synthetic fibers and are designed for use with water-based paint. They are more durable than hogs bristle brushes, and will hold their shape better over time. Synthetic brushes can be very handy for figurative painting in my experience but definitely less so for landscape painting.
